Weekly Update №1


So yeah... This is my first devlog on this game. Original game was made in a week for a jam. It was fun to make but it had tons of bugs and was very unpolished. Now I am working on it fulltime. 

In this week I have done following:

  • Completely converted the project from GameMaker Studio to GameMaker Studio 2
  • Fixed pretty damn big amount of bugs
  • Turrets: they have two stages - inspection and of course shooting. ( I made them easy to modify so there are gonna be many types of them)
  • Redrawn some of the sprites, mainly character's
  • Made explosions juicier
  • Doorways that obscure the view of the next room in which something can be hidden
  • Destructible and heavy crates
  • Targets of the level
  • Tutorial level
  • Addition of some small features and level design

There were just bugs everywhere! EVERYWHERE! But it turned out pretty well - I fixed them and I don't need to care about those bugs in the future.

Plans for the next week:

  • More turrets
  • New enemy type (i think humanoid type but still don't know)
  • More grenade types
  • Story
  • Tiles for levels
  • Options
  • Gamepad controls
  • Sounds
  • Soundtrack
  • More effects
  • Addition of some other small features and level design

Summing-up

This was not very productive week. I didn't work on the game for two day just to relax, feeling quite bad for doing it, but it is summer, some of the days are very sultry. I have big hopes for the game and the work on it is going pretty well now. I am trying to do blogs and devlogs everyday but sometimes there is nothing to show. But it was a first week so everything can be different in the future.
