Weekly Update №2



This is the second devlog on this game. Original game was made in a week for a jam. It was fun to make but it had tons of bugs and was very unpolished. Now I am working on it fulltime. 

In this week I have done following:

  • Recorded some sound effects
  • Fixed pretty damn big amount of bugs
  • Bullet cases, pins from grenades and other small details.
  • Smoke Grenade
  • Stealth
  • Lvl design
  • Ear now rings when something explodes too near
  • Bullet ricochet (and other bullet stuff)
  • Inventory system
  • Optimizations (like occlusion culling and others)
  • Сame up with the main story of the game
  • Addition of some small features and level design
  • Started making soundtrack

This week was less practical, but I started to come up with the main story, enemies, mechanics and some other stuff I don't want to spoil but very excited to implement.

Plans for the next week:

  • More types of turrets (maybe turrets that shoot grenades instead of bullets and stuff like that)
  • New enemy type
  • Turret hacking (when the turret is hacked you can control it)
  • Claymores
  • Destructible type of walls and props
  • Mines
  • Explosive stretch marks
  • Story
  • Tiles for levels
  • Advanced Options
  • Gamepad controls
  • More sounds effects
  • Soundtrack
  • More level design
  • Addition of some other small features and level design


Summing-up

This week definitely lacks in content, but it is not that easy. I tried implemeting 3d audio system for the game and it had some issues - I needed to write it from scratch for each object. I haven't finished it yet so there is gonna be simple audio system for a while. There were many big updates that were not finised on this week, but I think they will add a lot to the game.

I will try my best to add more content on the next week because I have so many ideas for the game. I think the game requires improvement in the art and overall feel of the gameplay, more player's immersion in what is happening on the screen. Also not only the game needs polish. All my YouTube, Twitter, etc. accounts need more time to spend on. I still don't know exactly how these platforms work, so it will take me a while to draw attention to my project. Any suggestions on that topic would be welcome)
